WEEK 1 - The Day We Met

Hi, my name is Emira , currently I'm taking bachelor degree at University Malaya. This is my Social Engagement's project. Objective of this project is to serve the community and our group chose teaching children using technology for studying. We're using Mobile Learning application by ilearnAce.com Sasbadi. Well this is the chance for me to have a foster sister. Hooray!๐Ÿ˜†

Last 13th March was our first meeting. My group altogether has 10 members including myself, means that there are 10 children we have to take care. Luckily the kids were nice and well-behaved, so things were under control. My foster sister's name is Nurul Aliya Bt Samad. She's studying at SK Satu Sultan Alam Shah. She's is 12 years old which means that she's taking UPSR this year! She's the youngest in her siblings with 2 brothers.

I see Aliya as a brave girl and has lots of potential. She can adapt with the environment very well. Her hobby is playing bicycle and she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. What a noble ambition! Aliya loves Mathematics, however she's a bit weak in it. Besides that, she's also weak in Science and English subject. I hope I can help her to improve her understanding on those subjects. Also with determination and hardworking, I believe she can be better.

During the ice breaking segment the kids were asked to introduce about themselves. Of course there were some kids who were shy at first๐Ÿ˜‰. Cuteness overload! We also asked them to share about their family, friends, schools and the funniest experience they had had. Then its play time! I guess its not just me who were excited, huhu. First we played musical chair even though this game quite lame, I'm grateful that the kids enjoyed.

After maghrib prayer and everybody seems full and sleepy after having their dinner, we asked them to dance with us to heat up the room.At first we wanted to teach them our dance but eventually kids nowadays like "Panama Dance". Now I know, haha! Then as requested by Aliya, we played "pisang goreng" boys vs girls and the girls team won! Well we girls are just good at everything we do! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.
This is me and Aliya. Look like we've bonded even we just known
each other for few hours.

Overall this first week was just about getting to know each other by ice breaking and playing games. I'm looking foward for the upcoming weeks. I hope I can help Aliya to do better in her studies and get straight A's in UPSR. Amin.
